Sexual & Reproductive Health Rights
Health Period Initiative
Menstrual health remains a significant challenge in Uganda, especially in rural communities, where 60% of women and girls struggle to access proper menstrual hygiene. Menstruation is a major barrier to education, with 70% of girls citing it as an obstacle and 28% missing school 3–4 days each month. This lack of support contributes to wider issues, including 36% of girls being forced into early marriage before 18 years. Stigma, limited access to products, and inadequate information continue to fuel period poverty and gender inequality.
